霞ケ関西小学校での水害授業

こんにちは。大木研究室の日向です！
1月21日は、霞ケ関西小学校で水害防災の授業を行いました。
友達の家で遊んでいる時に災害を引き起こすような大雨が降ったら…というテーマで、その時にどんなことが起きるか、命を守るために自分に何ができるかを考えてもらいました。
子供たちからは、「早めに逃げないと避難する道が浸水するかもしれない」、「親が仕事でいない時に一人で避難するのは不安だ」など様々な意見が出ていました。
水害発生時は、状況が刻一刻と変化していく中で選択を迫られることになります。
命を守るためには、確かに早めの避難が重要です。
しかし、頭では分かっていても、実際には様々な事情によって避難が難しくなることがあります。
普段から防災への備えを徹底している人でも、いざ行動しようとすると中々動けないものです。
綺麗事を言うだけでは、人の命を守ることはできません。
防災を研究する立場として、この視点は絶対に忘れてはならないと考えています。
水害授業の構成や避難に関するコミュニケーションのあり方については、まだまだ検討の余地があるので、今後も改善を進めていきたいです。
